Lisa has inspired me to continue this blog throughout my first year of teaching! As most of you know I have the opportunity and privilege to teach a group of 3rd graders this coming school year. The first day of school over here in Prince William is not until Sept. 6th. I have several trainings coming up in the next two weeks and I can'y wait to absorb as much info as I can! I am trying to sort through my WVU things and remember all the wonderful ideas my fellow Benedum students and I had. I hope I don't suddenly forget everything I have learned when that first day of school comes! It all feels so surreal right now....

until next time,
Steph

  1. Hi Stephanie,

I think it's a great idea to continue your blog and I am excited that this will be a way that I can stay in touch with some of you. I also think it's a great tool, not only for reflection (and sometimes venting), but over time, you can see how much you've changed and grown as a teacher.

I'll be interested to hear about what you learn in your 2 weeks of training and how it meshes with your beliefs about teaching and learning. It's nice that you've got some time to plan and get ready before your students enter your classroom. And I'm also thnking that I'll actually be able to come visit...if you'll let me....one of the weeks I come to babysit my granddaughter on the weekend.

I'm really interested to hear more about their approach to teaching and learning. And I believe that when the first day of school comes, what you've learned will somehow become relevant and meaningful in a way that wasn't possible before and you'll begin to make decisions about how to use, refine, modify what you know....and decide what more you want to learn.

Of course, if you decide to engage in inquiry I'm always willing to help.

Can't wait to read more from you and Lisa.
    Sharon
